Capitol Police in Jackson are investigating the shooting death of a Germantown High School student.
The law enforcement agency announced over the weekend that it was assessing the homicide of a 17-year-old male that occurred on Sept. 19, at approximately 9:25 p.m., around Sunnyvale Drive and Sandalwood Place — an area that features an elementary school, an outdoor soccer complex, and an indoor basketball center.
Officials later identified the deceased as Saleh Ghasan Humaid. His family told the local TV station, WLBT, that he was a student at the high school in Gluckstadt, a Jackson suburb.
