More help is on the way for Jackson residents as Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons has announced that his town is sending water to the capital city.

The city of Greenville has dispatched an 18-wheeler load of water in partnership with Kroger Food, MMK Trucking, Simmons; Simmons Law Firm, W.L. Burle Engineers, Mitchell Distributing, the Greenville Local Organizing Committee, and the community.

Greenville’s first responders, such as the Greenville Police Department and the Greenville Fire Department, are joining the effort and will be traveling to Jackson to distribute water at the Metrocenter Mall, alongside other city officials.

“I’ve been in close contact with Mayor Lumumba and his team regarding the current water crisis in Jackson, MS. I assured him that the City of Greenville stands with the City of Jackson and will continue our efforts to assist them during this time,” Simmons said. “When our neighbor is in need, we are in need, and should lend a helping hand. The Bible commands us to love thy neighbor as thyself. I encourage all cities and towns in Mississippi to join in on this effort to help our capital city.”
