Greenville teen faces murder charge and $2M bond for death of 61-year-old man

A Mississippi teenager is facing a $2 million dollar bond in connection to the killing of a 61-year-old man.

19-year-old Dewayne Hemphill, a Greenville native, was found responsible for the death of Ernest Davis.

On Saturday, May 20, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of Walthall in reference to a shot person. When the police arrived, they discovered the body of Davis lying on the ground.

Authorities report that it appeared the victim suffered several gunshot wounds to his body. Pafford Emergency Ambulance responded, along with the Washington County Coroner who pronounced Davis deceased.

Further investigation into this case led police to arrest the suspected Hemphill.

Hemphill was taken into custody and charged with Davis’s Murder, then transported to the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility.
