Another Mississippi inmate is on the run after escaping the custody of authorities during a bathroom break.

Kirtis Elkins was being transported from Benton County to DeSoto County on Monday around noon when he asked officers to use the restroom. Officers complied and pulled over on the side of Mississippi Highway 4 near the border of Marshall and Benton counties. That’s when Elkins made a run for it.

Elkins, who was just weeks away from parole, was able to get away through a wooded area near Snow Lake Shores. He is described as a white male with brown hair, around 6 feet tall, and weighing 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and handcuffs.

Officers do not believe Elkins to be dangerous. A manhunt is currently underway.
