A Hancock County man has been taken into custody for making threats at a school near the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

On Wednesday, officers with the Picayune Police Department became aware of a social media post by 50-year-old Dustin Taylor in which he threatened to destroy a school within the Picayune School District.

Detectives immediately began an investigation into the threats and subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for Taylor for making terrorist threats

Officers located Taylor at his residence on Old Bouie Road where he was arrested for his outstanding warrant.

“We routinely use humor as a way of communication but we will tell everyone that the Picayune Police Department finds no humor in this and takes these and all cases very seriously,” the Picayune Police Department posted on Facebook. “Thank you again to all involved in bringing this investigation to a peaceful resolution.”

No further details have been provided at this time.
