It’s finally here, Rebel and Bulldog fans. Ole Miss and Mississippi State football is back for another season.
Mississippi State will take the field first, hosting Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday night. Then, on Sunday night, in what will be the only ranked-on-ranked matchup of Week 1, No. 9 Ole Miss and No. 24 Louisville will meet in Nashville in the Music City Kickoff game.

— This will be the seventh all-time meeting between Mississippi State and Louisiana-Monroe. The Bulldogs hold a 4-1-1 lead in the series with the last time the two met being a 24-10 Mississippi State victory in 1997.
— Mississippi State went 5-8 in 2025, including a Duke’s Mayo Bowl appearance. Louisiana-Monroe went 3-9 and failed to qualify for the postseason.
— Jeff Lebby is going into his third season with Mississippi State, holding a 7-18 record, while Bryant Vincent is going into his third season with Louisiana-Monroe, holding a 8-16 record.
— Kamario Taylor will start at quarterback for Mississippi State. The dual-threat sophomore had 629 passing yards, 5 passing touchdowns, 458 rushing yards, and 8 rushing touchdowns with 1 interception as a freshman. He was awarded the starting spot at the tail-end of 2025.
— Aiden Armenta will get another chance behind center in his third year at Louisiana-Monroe. In 2025, he passed for 1,629 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.

— Preseason All-Sun Belt Warhawks: OL AJ Vinson (first team), LB Noah Flemmings (first team), WR Nic Trujilo (second team), and DB Jabari Tiller (second team).

— This will be the second all-time meeting between Ole Miss and Louisville. The Rebels have a 1-0 lead in the series with a 43-24 win coming in 2021.

— Pete Golding is going into his first full season as the Ole Miss head coach, winning two playoff games last season after Lane Kiffin left for LSU. Jeff Brohm is going into his fourth season, holding a 28-12 record.
— Trinidad Chambliss will start at quarterback for Ole Miss. The fifth-year Heisman hopeful passed for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns with 3 interceptions while adding 527 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground in 2025.
— Lincoln Kienholz will get the start behind center for Louisville after transferring from Ohio State. Kienholz passed for 139 yards and 1 touchdown in relief for the Buckeyes in 2025.

— Preseason All-ACC Cardinals: RB Isaac Brown (first team), DE Chev Lubin (first team). Brown also finished fourth in preseason ACC Player of the Year voting. It’s worth noting the ACC only releases one preseason team, unlike other conferences.
