Hurricane Delta has strengthened to a category 3 as it approaches landfall along the south-central and southwestern Louisiana Coast.
The National Weather Service says beginning Friday evening into Saturday, portions of Mississippi could see sustained winds of 30 to 45 mph winds with gusts of 50 to 60 mph.
Parts of Mississippi could potentially see 4 to 8 inches of rain with locally higher amounts possible.
There is also a marginal risk of isolated severe storms, and the possibility of tornadoes.
Earlier today, Governor Tate Reeves provided an update on what the state can expect and what officials are doing to prepare for any impacts of the storm.
