Hurricane Zeta upgraded to a Category 3

Hurricane Zeta is being upgraded from a Category 2 to a 3.  A new report from the National Hurricane Center upped the maximum sustained winds from 109-115, making the October 28th storm the strongest to make landfall in the U.S. that late in the year.

Zeta had weakened to a tropical storm as it neared the Gulf Coast, and then intensified so rapidly that it took a lot of residents by surprise.  Zeta downed trees, snapped power lines, and flooded roads.  Close to 10-thousand homes were damaged in Jackson, Harrison and Hancock Counties alone.

There were five fatalities total in the U.S., and over $4-billion in damages.
