For the second time in three weeks, a body has been discovered in the Pearl River.

Per a report from WLBT, a fisherman notified the Jackson Police Department that he noticed a body floating near the stack, which is located at the Interstate 20 and Highway 49 exit. Multiple emergency units responded to the scene, where they located the body near South State Street and Gallatin Street around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

This comes after the body of missing Jackson man Dau Mabil was discovered nearly 60 miles away from the capital city in Lawrence County on April 13. Mabil’s body was also discovered by a fisherman along the Pearl River. A cause of death for Mabil has yet to be determined as nationally-covered court proceedings have taken place throughout the week regarding what will happen to Mabil’s remains.

The latest body to turn up has yet to be identified as law enforcement investigates the situation.
