Jackson State continues to be among the most consistently successful in HBCU college sports, winning the 2024-25 C.D. Henry Award for the best men’s athletic program in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
It’s the second time in three years the Tigers have claimed the achievement, accumulating a total of 72 points in men’s sponsored sports across the athletic calendar.

“Our student-athletes competed at the highest level all season and I am extremely proud of what they have been able to accomplish, and this is a culmination of hard work,” Jackson State Director of Athletics Ashley Robinson said. “They represented Jackson State at the highest level, competing for numerous conference championships and placing in the top three in eight sports.”
The prolific stretch for JSU included a SWAC championship and HBCU national title by T.C. Taylor’s football Tigers, along with a second-place mark in indoor track and field, a runner-up finish in men’s basketball, and a second-place finish for men’s tennis in the SWAC tournament. Men’s outdoor track and field also placed second in the SWAC conference meet, while men’s cross country finished fifth in the regular season standings and baseball placed sixth.
