A Jackson teenager has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering a mother of four during an armed robbery attempt in 2021.
Jacob Terrell, 17 now but 15 at the time of the crime, was charged with second-degree murder and armed robbery for his involvement in the break-in at an abandoned apartment on Silas Brown Street on March 17, 2021.
Jackson officials released at the time of the incident that Teshundra Fortune, 33, had died from being fatally shot, with Terrell and then 13-year-old Dennis Williams being arrested two days after.
Terrell has also received aggravated assault charges for being involved with another non-fatal shooting that occurred at a Shell gas station in the 1100 block of University Boulevard the night before Fortune’s murder.
He will now face 35 years in prison without the possibility of parole or sentence reduction.
