American Idol season 23 winner and Mississippi native Jamal Roberts is riding high right now, booking concerts and releasing new music in the aftermath of taking home the crown on the hit ABC singing competition.
Roberts, who is from Meridian and won the most recent season of Idol on Sunday night, has announced plans for multiple shows in the coming months.

On Wednesday, June 4, he and other Idol alums will take the stage at 6th and Peabody in downtown Nashville. The lineup features Roberts alongside fellow season 23 finalists John Foster and Breanna Nix. Slater Nalley, Kolbi Jordan, Gabby Simone, Mattie Pruett, and Thunderstorm Artis will also be part of the show.
Season 21 second runner-up and Gattman native Colin Stough is part of the lineup, as well as Will Moseley (season 22), Wé Ani (season 21), HunterGirl (season 20), and Adii (season 12). Admission to the show is free.
On Friday, Aug. 8, Morgan Freeman’s Ground Zero Blues Club in Biloxi will host Roberts. The coastal club booked Roberts before his run on Idol ended, giving fans plenty of time to get tickets to the now-sold out show.
On Friday, Sept. 19, Roberts will be live from the Jackson Convention Complex for “A Night of Soul, Celebration, & Support for Alcorn State Athletics.” The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and raise money for Alcorn State student-athletes, according to the facility’s website. General admission is $110 while VIP tables are going for $1,500.
In addition to the concert dates rolling out, Roberts is working on rolling out new music. His original, “Heal,” which he performed during the season 23 finale, has climbed to No. 1 on iTunes and seen over 170,000 streams on Spotify.
