Jimmie Rodgers Music Festival kicks off this weekend

The 70th annual Jimmie Rodgers Music Festival is set to kick off this weekend with this year’s musical lineup expected to feature nearly 20 artists from across the South.

For the second year in a row, the eight-day event will begin with the Bud N’ Boilin’ Crawfish Competition at Meridian City Hall Lawn at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6.

After that, each day will include special performances and seminars at various locations in downtown Meridian and Philadelphia. This year’s festival is set to have appearances from several notable musicians covering genres including blues, rock & roll, country, and gospel music.

Here’s the full lineup for the week:

  • Sunday, May 7: The Sucarnochee Revue at the Temple Theatre
  • Monday, May 8: Music History Seminar at the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The MAX)
  • Tuesday, May 9: Jimmie’s Jam Session at the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The MAX)
  • Wednesday, May 10: Singer/Songwriter Competition and Crocodile Wine at the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The MAX)
  • Thursday, May 11: Delnora and Paul Thorn at the Ellis Theater in Philadelphia
  • Friday, May 12: Sugarcane Jane, Jontavious Willis, and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram at the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The MAX)
  • Saturday, May 13: Daniel Houze, Tyler Tisdale, Sweet Tea Trio, The Reeves Brothers, and Paul Cauthen at the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The MAX)
  • Sunday, May 14: NOLA Gospel Brunch with Joyful and the Spirit of New Orleans Gospel Choir at the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The MAX)

VIP and individual tickets for the event are currently available for purchase. The VIP tickets include admission to all of the concerts, preferred seating, admission into the VIP tent and the food/drink lounge, and private bathrooms.
