Kiffin hires Jeff Lebby as Ole Miss offensive coordinator

Lane Kiffin has hired former Central Florida offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby to the same position, according to a release from the school.

Kiffin zeroed in on Lebby hours after his introductory press conference on Monday and Ole Miss made the hire official late Thursday afternoon.

Lebby spent  the last two seasons at UCF after joining the program in December 2017 as quarterbacks coach before being promoted to offensive coordinator prior to the start of the 2019 season. The Knights ranked fourth nationally in total offense at 536.6 yards per contest, the most in program history. The Knights also ranked sixth nationally in scoring at 43 points per game and scored 40 or more points in seven of their eight contests. Lebby’s offense was one of only two units that  averaged more than 300 yards passing and 200 yards rushing per game this season along with Oklahoma. Lebby worked with UCF signal caller Mackenzie Milton for two season and oversaw his rise to becoming one of the top passers in the sport.

Ole Miss also made official the hires of strength coach Wilson Love and assistant Kevin Smith. Kiffin announced these hires at his Monday presser. Smith’s role has not yet been listed, though he worked with running backs  under Kiffin at Florida Atlantic.

Kiffin is expected to retain defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre but has not yet officially done so despite Macintyre and defensive line coach Freddie Roach accompanying him on the recruiting trail. Kiffin did not retain former offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez, offensive line coach Jack Bicknell and wide receivers coach Jacob Peeler.
