Lafayette County man arrested for kicking deputy in face while under the influence

A Harmontown man has been locked up for driving a utility task vehicle while under the influence and assaulting a law enforcement officer.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday received multiple reports of a man driving recklessly on a UTV near the Teckville Boat Ramp in Harmontown.

Deputies stopped the driver, later identified as 62-year-old Clarence Belden Howell, and proceeded to arrest him for driving the vehicle under the influence. Howell then allegedly kicked one of the deputies in the face while being detained.

Howell is charged with charged with DUI, disorderly conduct, and assault on an officer. His bond was set at $10,000.
