FULL RESULTS: Mississippi’s primary election results

Throughout the day, voters all across the state visited the polls in order to narrow the list of Congressional choices in the primary elections. The polls have now closed, and precincts are beginning to report their numbers. As the numbers come in, this article will be updated with live results. 

Reminder: A candidate must get at least 50% of the vote to be declared a winner.  If no candidate reaches that threshold, the race will go to a runoff on June 28.

District 1

Republican:

99% of precincts reporting 

  • Trent Kelly – 89.8% – WINNER
  • Mark D. Strauss – 10.2%

Democrat:

99% of precincts reporting 

  • Hunter Avery – 20.9%
  • Dianne Black – 79.1% – WINNER
District 2

Democrat:

99% of precincts reporting 

  • Jerry Kerner – 3.7%
  • Bennie Thompson – 96.3% – WINNER 

Republican:

98% of precincts reporting 

  • Michael Carson – 20.9%
  • Ronald Eller – 32.6% – RUNOFF
  • Brian Flowers – 43% – RUNOFF
  • Stanford Johnson – 3.5%
District 3

Republican:

99% of precincts reporting 

  • Michael Cassidy – 47.5% – RUNOFF
  • Thomas B. Griffin – 5.7%
  • Michael Guest – 46.9% – RUNOFF

Democrat:

  • Shuwaski Young – WINNER
District 4

Republican:

99% of precincts reporting 

  • Carl Boyanton – 6.3%
  • Raymond N. Brooks – 4.6%
  • Mike Ezell – 25.1% – RUNOFF
  • Steven M. Palazzo – 31.6% – RUNOFF
  • Kidron Peterson – 0.9%
  • Clay Wagner – 22.1%
  • Brice Wiggins – 9.4%

Democrat:

98.3% of precincts reporting 

  • Johnny Dupree – 84.9% – WINNER
  • David Sellers – 15.1%

Independent:

  • Alden Patrick Johnson – WINNER
