A Louisiana man accused of assaulting an Adams County deputy is behind bars.
On Saturday around midnight, a deputy on an off-duty security detail at Bowie’s Rabbit Hole in Natchez reportedly spotted a man exiting the women’s restroom. According to the incident report, the suspect, identified as 57-year-old Victor Boudreaux, was heavily intoxicated. The deputy reportedly told the bartender not to serve him another drink, then instructed Boudreaux to leave.
As he left, Boudreaux allegedly became confrontational with the deputy, who repeatedly tried to get him to leave. Boudreaux is said to have struck the deputy in the chest. The deputy reportedly responded by taking action to restrain and arrest the suspect.
Boudreaux was transported to the Adams County Jail, where he reportedly became aggressive again towards authorities. Boudreaux continued to display violent behavior towards detention workers and, during the booking process, he allegedly attempted to assault a jail staffer before being pepper sprayed.
“Let me be absolutely clear: Assaulting our deputies, law enforcement officers, or jail staff will not be tolerated on any level, by anyone. It does not matter who you are or what the circumstances may be. If you put your hands on one of our officers or detention personnel, you will be arrested and charged accordingly,” Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said.
“Our men and women come to work every day to protect and serve this community, and I will not tolerate anyone putting their safety at risk. We will pursue every applicable criminal charge against anyone who assaults our personnel.”
Due to his aggressive behavior, authorities said they were unable to initially complete the booking process. Boudreaux is charged with simple assault on a law enforcement officer, but more charges are likely.
