Louisiana pastor released from hospital after shooting wife, self in McComb hotel

A Louisiana pastor has been released from the hospital after shooting his wife and himself in a McComb hotel.

According to McComb Police Chief Juan Cloy, 25-year-old Danny Prenell, Jr. was released from a local hospital over the weekend.

The shooting is believed to have occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21 at the Hampton Inn off of Interstate 55.

Police say Prenell shot his wife, 27-year-old Gabrielle Prenell, twice before shooting himself once.

Gabrielle Prenell was later airlifted from Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She suffered gunshot wounds in the arm and abdomen.

She is reportedly in stable condition.

Danny Prenell, Jr. is charged with aggravated domestic violence, disorderly conduct, and disturbance of a business. He is currently being held at the Pike County Jail.

Prenell is the pastor of Bright Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Pineville, La.
