Novelist and philanthropist, MacKenzie Scott, has recently donated $50 million to 4-H, making it the largest single donation received in the organization’s 120-year history.

4-H is the largest out-of-school program for youth that teaches animal science, home economics, natural resources, and handcrafts.

“This investment will support positive youth development for nearly six million kids and their families in every U.S. county, parish, and territory,” National 4-H Council officials said in a published statement.

The donation is a contribution that further aids the people of Mississippi, as Scott donated a total of $40 million to three Mississippi programs in December 2020.

The contributions included $25 million to Alcorn State University, $6 million to Tougaloo College, and $9 million to the Mississippi Food Network.

In 2020 alone, Scott, ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, announced that she had donated $4 billion to 384 organizations.

In less than two years, Scott has more than doubled her total donations as she has given more than $8.9 billion of her estimated $47 billion fortune to hundreds of organizations.

Scott’s contributions are likely to continue as she plans to donate at least half of her total fortune to those in need following her signing of the Giving Pledge in 2019.
