Coming off of its 7A state championship campaign, Madison Central High School has found a new head baseball coach.
School officials announced that Jake Mills has been handed the reins to the Jaguars’ prestigious brand after former skipper Patrick Robey was called up to take over as Belhaven University’s frontman. Mills, a native of Oxford, comes to central Mississippi after spending the last four years as Petal High School’s head coach.
During his time with the Panthers, the team made two deep playoff runs. Prior to his stint in the Pine Belt, Mills had an eight-year tenure as a coach at South Panola.
No stranger to success on the diamond as a player, Mills was a member of the 2006 Lafayette High School state championship team. At the collegiate level, Mills played at Northwest Mississippi Community College and Millsaps.
He will be tasked with overseeing a Madison Central club that appeared in three state titles, winning two, over the past decade under Robey’s tutelage.
