Law enforcement officials are investigating an alleged threat called in to Madison Station Elementary School.
According to the Madison County School District, the unspecified threat was made on Wednesday morning, prompting local police to rush to the scene. For the time being, students and staff have been relocated to Ridgecrest Baptist Church on Old Canton Road by bus. Parents or emergency contacts are asked to head to the church to pick up their children.
District officials noted that those picking up children will be required to show a photo ID. A student will not be released to any adult unless valid identification is first presented.
“The school campus will be closed as law enforcement and first responders continue working the scene. We will continue to release details as their investigation develops,” a release from the school district reads.
