A man accused of engaging in lewd behavior while photographing young children at a park in Magee has been handcuffed.
Magee Police Chief Denis Borges reports that his department received multiple calls from concerned citizens on Tuesday concerning a man, later identified as Randy Martin Riley, touching himself inappropriately and taking photos of elementary-aged children at the city’s park. Parents reportedly confronted Riley regarding his behavior, prompting him to flee the scene.
Witnesses provided law enforcement authorities with a description of the suspect’s vehicle. A short time later, police spotted Riley driving “recklessly” on Highway 28. After being pulled over, the suspect admitted to his actions at the park, though he claimed that he never touched a child.
Authorities searched Riley’s phone and found several images of minors in his camera roll. Police noted that all of the children pictured were clothed. Riley was booked by Magee police and “charged accordingly,” per Borges. Additional charges may be pending further investigation and forensic review of electronic evidence.
“Magee will not be a playground for anyone with lustful intentions or desires toward minors,” a statement from Borges reads. “We will protect our children at all costs and take swift action against anyone who poses a threat to their safety or innocence.”
No additional details have been released at this time.
