The Ole Miss men’s basketball team has landed a big addition to its roster ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Chris Beard and company on Tuesday locked down a commitment from James Scott, a 6-foot-11 forward from Louisville. The haul marks the second Cardinal the Rebels plucked from the transfer portal. Scott’s teammate, Koren Johnson, also elected to take his talents to Oxford in April.

This past year, Scott played an integral role in helping Pat Kelsey’s Cardinals reach the NCAA Tournament. The big man averaged 7.1 points and 6.1 rebounds in 24 minutes of action. He had 6 points and 9 boards in a blowout home loss to Ole Miss in last year’s SEC/ACC Challenge. The sophomore was best known for his team-high 79 dunks.
Other players Beard has added to his roster are Ilias Kamardine (France), Travis Perry (Kentucky), AJ Storr (Kansas), Corey Chest (LSU), and Augusto Cassia (Butler). Ole Miss brought in Tylis Jordan and Patton Pinkins from the high school ranks. The newcomers will play alongside veterans Malik Dia and Eduardo Klafke.
The Rebels will begin the 2025-26 season in November with momentum as the program is coming off its second-ever Sweet 16 appearance.
