Following Mississippi’s latest round of severe weather between Friday night and Saturday morning, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has released its preliminary damage report showing damage in seven counties.

Statewide, the severe storms brought with it damaging winds, hail and reported tornadoes. Survey and damage assessments continue. This morning, the state experienced around 40,000 power outages, but that number has been greatly reduced throughout the day. To see the current outage numbers click here.

At this time, MEMA has not been notified of any storm-related injuries or fatalities.

The following counties have submitted preliminary damage reports to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency:

  • Attala – 10 homes; Three businesses
  • Chickasaw – 14 homes; One business
  • Hinds – One home
  • Issaquena – One home
  • Rankin – One home
  • Warren – Three homes
  • Yazoo  – One home

*These are preliminary numbers and could change throughout the assessment process.

If there are immediate unmet needs, MEMA encourages you to contact your county emergency management agency. A list of those county contacts can be found here. Resources must be requested through the county EMA to be submitted to MEMA for resource coordination.
