MEMA’s Greg Michel talks COVID-19 relief program, Monday’s earthquake

As the COVID-19 outbreak is worsening across the state and the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season continues to be inordinately active, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has been nothing short of busy this year.

MEMA Executive Director Greg Michel called in to The JT Show today to discuss the COVID-19 emergency relief program that Governor Tate Reeves and MEMA launched last week.

House Bill 1799 and Senate Bill 3047 combined to grant MEMA approximately $70 million of the $1.25 billion in federal relief money Mississippi received under the CARES Act. Those appropriated dollars will be used for the recently introduced relief program.
