The Millsaps women’s basketball team has been crowned regular season conference champions for the sixth time in 11 years, securing a share of this year’s title with a 74-57 win against Hendrix on Sunday.

With the final victory, the Lady Majors earned hosting position for the upcoming Southern Athletic Association tournament, which will begin on Sunday. Millsaps (21-4, 12-2 SAA) finished the regular season with a perfect record at home and its most wins since 2018-19.

“I got a tough group of girls on the team, some really good upperclassmen leadership, and some freshmen who are bought in,” Millsaps head coach Justin LeBlanc said when discussing his team earlier in the season.

Leading the charge for Millsaps has been Haley Franklin with an SAA-best 18.5 points per game. The junior guard is also averaging five rebounds and three assists. Joining Franklin atop the stat sheet is sophomore forward Elyse Warren, who night in and night out, has put up a double-double with averages of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Majors are first in the conference in scoring and second in points allowed. Their bid for an NCAA Division III Tournament appearance will continue when the first round of the SAA tournament begins on Sunday at the Hangar Dome in Jackson. Seeding will be released on Wednesday.

Millsaps has now won regular season conference championships in 2023-24, 2020-21, 2018-19, 2015-16, 2014-15, 2012-13 as a member of the SAA. They also won one in 1995-96 as a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
