Millsaps defensive lineman Zabian Boutan has been recognized as the Southern Athletic Association Defensive Athlete of the Week following his stellar performance in the Majors’ 57-0 blowout win at Centenary.
The Juan Joseph Memorial Award-winning defensive lineman helped keep Centenary off the board on Saturday and contributed to propelling the Majors further ahead of the Shreveport school. Boutan had five total tackles, three for loss, one sack, and a forced fumble that led to his own scoop-and-score 40-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
Boutan is the second Major in a row to earn the honor, following week one SAA Defensive Athlete of the Week Myles Johnson. In Millsaps’ season opener against rival Belhaven, Johnson had six tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in the Majors’ 36-20 win in the Riverside Rumble.
Millsaps will return home to Harper Davis Field and host Hendrix College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
