Renasant, a financial institution headquartered in Mississippi, will distribute $240,000 evenly across three Lee County high schools.
The funding will be dispersed in increments of $40,000 annually over the next six years and will be donated to Mooreville, Saltillo, and Shannon high schools. Each year, one school will receive $25,000 for athletics, while the other two schools will receive $7,500 each to support academic and art programs. Schools will rotate every year, ensuring students in each academic institution benefit during the six-year term.
“At Renasant, we believe in investing in our future leaders,” Louis Marascalco, Rensasant Division President of Lee County, said. “We’re proud to stand alongside the educators and staff of Shannon, Mooreville, and Saltillo as they inspire the next generation.”
Representatives from each school flipped a coin to see which one would receive the first $25,000, and Mooreville won. Funds will be presented annually to the Lee County superintendent’s office, where teachers, coaches, and booster clubs can then request support for their projects and programs through their individual schools.
“We are grateful for Renasant’s commitment to Lee County’s future leaders through this generous donation,” Lee County Schools Superintendent Coke Magee said. “We look forward to sharing how these contributions will make a direct impact on every aspect of our schools, from academics to athletics to the arts.”
