Get excited, anime and sports fans – the Mississippi Card Show will return to Jackson for a two-day event in August.
Sponsored by VXV Events, the second annual card show will be held on Aug. 22 and 23 at the Trade Mart on the Mississippi Fairgrounds, featuring six celebrity guests to cover all the bases for card collectors around the state.
Of those celebrity guests, four of them are former athletes – two from the WWE, including John “Bradshaw” Layfield and Ron Simmons. New Orleans Saints Hall of Famer Joe Horn will also be in attendance, along with former Atlanta Braves All-Star Dale Murphy.
Megan Hollingshead, anime and video game voice actress best known for her role as Nurse Joy in the “Pokémon” series, headlines the event on the fiction side. The only other non-athlete celebrity guest will be illustrator Randy “RK” Post. He has done the cover art for many fantasy books, card games, board games, and video games, including Dungeons & Dragons, World of Warcraft, and Alien vs. Predator.
In addition to the celebrity guests featured at the event, visitors will have the opportunity to expand their card collections in the sports world and in games like “Pokémon,” “Magic: The Gathering,” and Disney’s “Lorcana.”
The Mississippi Card Show will also include a trio of tournaments. Free to play for all, there will be tournaments for pinball, video games – such as “Super Smash Bros.” – and, of course, card games.
Advance discount tickets are available at $15 for a single day or $25 for the weekend. Children 10 and under have free admissions if they are with by a paying adult.
