Two homeless people have been locked up for allegedly stealing the car of a Good Samaritan on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

According to Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter, an unidentified male victim picked up 27-year-old Joseph Anthony White and 38-year-old Julie Ann Anders at a hotel in Ocean Springs on November 14 and drove them to an area off Highway 57.

The victim told authorities that his vehicle was stolen at that location.

With the help of a police K-9, investigators arrested the two suspects, who are said to be homeless, on Monday at a vacant home in Vancleave. The victim’s car was recovered.

White and Anders are both charged with carjacking and held without bond at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center.
