Mississippi Comic Con is returning to Jackson for its 12th edition this summer – and with a star-studded lineup already booked.
This year’s event will be held Friday through Sunday, June 26-28, at the Mississippi Trade Mart and Coliseum for a weekend full of celebrities, creators, gaming, cosplay, and fun. Headlining the affair will be Tom Kenny, Kel Mitchell, and Drake Bell.
Kenny, who started his career as a comedian and on-screen actor, landed the role of SpongeBob in Nickelodeon’s hit show “SpongeBob SquarePants” in 1999. He’s continued as the main voice of Bikini Bottom as the show is now in its 16th season and is still seeing record numbers.
Other voice acting roles for Kenny have included Heffer Wolfe in “Rocko’s Modern Life,” the Ice King in “Adventure Time,” the narrator and mayor in “The Powerpuff Girls,” Dog in “CatDog,” and Squanchy in “Rick and Morty.” Another “SpongeBob SquarePants” staple will be joining Kenny at the event. Rodger Bumpass, who voiced Squidward, will be in Jackson for Comic Con.
Mitchell is best known for his roles in multiple hit Nickelodeon shows, including “All That” and “Keenan and Kell.” The Chicago native starred in the wildly popular 1997 children’s flick “Good Burger” and following films within the “Good Burger” series.
Bell rose to fame for his role in the Nickelodeon comedy show “Drake and Josh,” where he played main character Drake Parker. Other notable roles for Bell include playing main character Timmy Turner in Nickelodeon’s “A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!”, along with co-starring in the film “Yours, Mine, and Ours.” Also a musician, Bell takes stages across the nation and will even be performing at Brewsky’s in Hattiesburg on June 29.
