Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead was placed on lockdown Monday afternoon following a report of an armed individual on campus. The lockdown was lifted after the suspect was apprehended in Belzoni.
According to MDCC’s official Facebook page, campus police received the report shortly before 1 p.m.
The college initiated a lockdown while law enforcement conducted a search of the campus. The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was arrested approximately 25 miles away from campus. No injuries were reported, and there were no indications of an active shooter or shots fired, according to police.
The lockdown, which has since been lifted, was implemented as a precautionary measure. Authorities have not disclosed whether any charges have been filed against the suspect. Campus activities at the community college have resumed as scheduled.
