The annual Mississippi Makers Fest is right around the corner with Gattman native and former American Idol finalist Colin Stough headlining the event on Saturday, May 10.
Stough finished in the hit ABC show’s top three in 2022 before embarking on a career in country music. He has since released popular songs such as “Sober” and “Bad Day” as he continues to climb through the ranks of Nashville. Joining Stough on stage will be folk rock band Happy Landing, bluesman Jamell Richardson, and bluegrass band The BTJ Trio. All four acts are proud to call Mississippi home.
In addition to the entertainment, the Mississippi Makers Fest will include more than 50 vendors and food trucks setting up outside the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson. The yearly event is sponsored by Nissan and dedicated to celebrating Mississippians and their creativity in forms such as pottery, paintings, woodwork, and jewelry.
For the kids, a portion of the festival called Mini Makers will be located inside the Two Mississippi Museums and provide youngsters with an opportunity to create make-and-take crafts.

The 2025 Mississippi Makers Fest is free to the public with most of the event taking place at the museums’ Entergy Plaza. Blankets and one collapsible lawn chair per person are allowed. Only clear bags will be allowed, including purses, fanny packs, diaper bags, and all other bags.
