Mississippi native and star Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy was shot at a concert in his home state but is now in stable condition, according to the university’s athletic department.
Missouri said in a Monday morning statement that Hardy was shot Sunday morning and underwent surgery. The shooting occurred at the Kamakazy Biker Club in Laurel, local law enforcement confirmed to the Laurel Leader-Call. The gunfire rang out around 2 a.m. after an outdoor rap concert had ended with police describing the incident as a “melee.”
“Ahmad is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family, and fans,” the school’s statement said. “We will continue to stand beside him and his family through this difficult time, offering our love, prayers, strength, and support.”
The statement added that a timeline for Hardy’s return to football activities is unknown at this time.

The Oma native who played his prep years at Lawrence County transferred from Louisiana Monroe to Missouri ahead of the 2025 season and was second among FBS players with 1,639 rushing yards, adding 16 touchdowns. He was named to the All-SEC first team and SEC Newcomer of the Year.
As for the shooting, three 19-year-old suspects, identified as Landice Magee, Jyon Sibley and Alvin Peyton, have been detained for questioning.
