Gov. Tate Reeves is touting record employment numbers in Mississippi.
According to a new release from the governor’s office, the state reached an all-time high of 1,195,400 non-farm jobs in May.
Reeves, who has made economic development a cornerstone of his administration, attributed the record job numbers to more than $85 billion in announced private-sector investment since taking office, saying the projects have created thousands of high-paying jobs across Mississippi.
“Mississippi has one of the hottest job markets in America,” Reeves said. “Our state continues to rack up win after win because our economic development strategy is working. Mississippi has more jobs than ever before, and companies are investing billions of dollars in our state. The Mississippi Momentum is not slowing down.”

The release also noted that Mississippi ranks second in the nation for growth in job openings since 2020, with hiring demand up nearly 20% during that span. By comparison, the national average declined 9.6%.
