A Vaiden teenager has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after Carroll County first responders found the teenager’s six-year-old brother dead inside a burned apartment.

On Saturday, first responders were called to a fire taking place at an apartment complex in Vaiden and later discovered the lifeless body of Orlando Pittman in an apartment unit’s closet.

Investigators believe that Pittman was killed by his brother, 19-year-old Thomas Perry III, prior to the start of the fire. An autopsy will be performed to determine the official cause of death.

Authorities took Perry into custody on Sunday, July 10. Perry is currently being charged with first-degree murder as well as arson and felony animal cruelty.
