Mississippi Valley State University’s website provider was the subject of a cyberattack.
The university said Wednesday that it is working to restore web services following a cyber incident that affected its website hosting provider. The school did not provide any specific details about the attack or whether sensitive information was compromised.
“Our hosting partner continues to make progress in restoring affected websites and recovering website content and functionality,” a release from the school said. “Their technical teams are actively evaluating affected files and utilizing available recovery methods to safely restore services. Because the extent of the impact varies, some portions of the website may require additional time and effort to fully recover.”
The Mississippi Office of Information Technology is working with Mississippi Valley State’s website provider to help return services as safely, securely, and reliably as possible, officials added.
“We understand that the website disruption has been inconvenient for our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this process,” the release continued. “At this time, restoration work remains ongoing. We will continue to share updates with the campus community as significant progress is made and additional information becomes available.”
A timeline has not been presented for when web services are expected to return.
