Mississippians can get an early start on Christmas shopping, with the Holiday Market rolling into Jackson this month.
The three-day event will take place in the Mississippi Trade Mart from Sept. 18-20. Officials say the market will bring together more than 125 merchants from across the country offering gifts, holiday décor, boutique clothing, gourmet foods, jewelry, home accents, and the latest fall fashions.
This year’s Holiday Market also marks a return to the Mississippi Trade Mart after the cancellation of Spring Market of Jackson following a fire at the facility in March.
“The cancellation of Spring Market was devastating for so many of our merchants,” Kristi Rowan, promoter of Holiday Market of Jackson, said. “We plan for these events all year, and to see merchants lose product and merchandise was heartbreaking. But everyone has regrouped, the Trade Mart is cleaned up and ready, and we are excited to be back for Holiday Market.”
For shoppers, the weekend offers a chance to start checking names off their Christmas lists well before the holiday rush while supporting small businesses and merchants from Mississippi and beyond.
“We are ready to see the Trade Mart full of smiling shoppers again,” Rowan added. “We’ve also added extra security for the weekend, including security officers on golf carts in the parking lot, and Capitol Police will be monitoring the entrances. We want shoppers to feel comfortable, safe, and ready to enjoy the weekend.”
Market hours are Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are available here. The weekend will also include two special ticketed shopping experiences:
Margaritas & Mistletoe (Sept. 18 from 4-8 p.m.)
Friday evening shoppers with a Margaritas & Mistletoe ticket will receive a complimentary tote, wine, margaritas, and a souvenir cup. The evening will also include a photo booth. The ticket includes general admission shopping throughout the day Friday.
Muffins & Mimosas (Sept. 19 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.)
Shoppers with a Muffins & Mimosas ticket will receive a complimentary tote, mimosas, a muffin, and a souvenir cup. A photo booth will also be available. The ticket includes general admission shopping for the remainder of Saturday.
Advance ticket purchasers for both special events will receive a free Market Tote at the door.
