Gun enthusiasts in Mississippi will have the chance to purchase discounted items this weekend during the state’s annual Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday.
The tax holiday runs Friday, Aug. 28, through Sunday, Aug. 30. Eligible items include some firearms, ammunition, and certain hunting supplies, including archery equipment, holsters, and hearing protection.
Items that do not qualify include hunting apparel, knives, toy guns, and cases or bags for firearms or ammunition.

According to the Mississippi Department of Revenue, eligible items purchased alongside non-eligible items must be itemized at checkout to receive the tax exemption. Otherwise, the entire purchase is subject to the sales tax.
Eligible items ordered by mail, phone, or online also qualify for the tax exemption if the purchaser places and pays for the order during the tax holiday.
