MSDH confirms 1,210 new COVID-19 cases, 40 deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 1,210 new cases of COVID-19. 

Today’s report, which matches Thursday’s caseload, brings the state’s total up to 279,742. With the confirmation of *40 additional deaths, 6,222 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus. 

*MSDH Note: 18 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between December 13, 2020 and January 28, 2021, identified from death certificate reports.

Overall hospitalizations continue to decline and could soon drop below 800 if the current trend continues. 

As of Monday, an estimated 238,176 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19. 

305,192 doses of the vaccine have been administered across the state.
