MSDH confirms 334 new COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths

This morning, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported 334 new cases of COVID-19. 

The latest report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 311,493. With the confirmation of *5 additional deaths, 7,193 Mississippians have passed away from the virus. 

*MSDH Note: One death occurred on February 25, identified from death certificate reports.

The state’s 7-day average of new cases is just below 240 and overall hospitalizations remain below 200. 

Tuesday, the CDC announced relaxed mask guidelines for the fully vaccinated which currently includes nearly 770,000 Mississippians. 

Later today, the MSDH is expected to address the pause on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The CDC recommended a lift of the pause on Sunday.
