MSDH confirms 873 new COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) is reporting 873 new cases of COVID-19.

The latest report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 525,502. With the confirmation of six additional deaths, 10,393 Mississippians have passed away from the virus.

Currently, 1,437,475 Mississippi residents are fully vaccinated.

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden announced new vaccination and testing sites, as well as the purchase of 500 million rapid COVID-19 tests that will be available to the public in January through a new website. He also instructed defense secretary Lloyd Austin to get 1,000 military medical professionals ready to help at overwhelmed hospitals.
