Sometimes a little humor can alleviate the woes of a bad situation. That was magnified on Thursday night as Mississippi Valley State suffered a demoralizing loss to Missouri in men’s basketball.
The user running the Delta Devils’ social media accounts made light of what was otherwise a daunting evening on the hardwood. Following the team’s 111-39 loss to the Tigers, ESPN took to X, formerly Twitter, to highlight a few notable stats from the contest.
ESPN mentioned that Missouri had more points off turnovers (45) and points in the paint (44) than the 39 points Mississippi Valley State scored outright in the matchup. The Delta Devils’ official men’s basketball account took exception with the stats that were presented and hilariously wrote “Uncalled for,” in a quote above the national sports platform’s post.

The person posting from the team’s social media had even expressed frustration with a call made during the game. Early in the first half, Missouri forward Trent Pierce drove to the basket before bulldozing through Mississippi Valley State’s Alvin Stredic in the process.
While it appeared that Stredic had established position ahead of the contact, the referees called a blocking foul. The Delta Devils’ official account posted “Refs are tripping,” in response to the call, arguing that the foul should have been a charge on Pierce.

Mississippi Valley State will continue its road stint against SEC foes on Saturday in a 4 p.m. CT tipoff at Texas.
