A naked man emerged from the Biloxi River and was shot and killed after attacking another person, police say.
The Biloxi Police Department noted in a press release that they received “multiple calls” on Saturday around 8 p.m. about a naked white man exiting the Biloxi River and approaching homes on Woolmarket Lake Road.
One caller told law enforcement that they were not home but spotted the man enter their porch area through their doorbell camera. The homeowner contacted a next-door neighbor, who armed himself and walked over to see if the man needed help. Police said the unclothed man charged at the neighbor, hitting him.
The neighbor fired multiple shots, striking the man, but he continued to attack the neighbor, per police. The man disarmed the neighbor before returning to the Biloxi River.
The entire incident was captured on the doorbell camera.
Emergency vehicles were unable to access the area because of heavy flooding, forcing officers to respond by boat. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the neighbor, who had facial lacerations and bruising.
A search of the river was conducted, and the man’s body was located at approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday.
Identities of those involved in the incident, including the deceased, have not been released.
