Nalani LuzMaria Thompson named next Choctaw Indian Princess

Nalani LuzMaria Thompson has been crowned the next Choctaw Indian Princess, earning the title after competing against over a dozen other contestants on Wednesday.

Thompson took up the role from last year’s winner, Cadence Raine Nickey, after competing in several rounds of the pageant at the Choctaw Indian Fair.

First Alternate and Miss Photogenic was Sydney Alyse Ben and Second Alternate was Angel Bahlantah Clemmons.

Before receiving the crown, Thompson was selected as this year’s Miss Congeniality by the other contestants.

According to the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, the 16-year-old — who is a resident of the Pearl River Community — is the daughter of Desmond and Kelli Jones.

This fall, Thompson will be a senior at Neshoba Central High School.

After graduation, Thompson will attend the University of Southern Mississippi nursing program, where she plans on majoring in Geriatric Nursing.
