A Natchez police officer is on the other side of the bars after being arrested and charged with domestic violence simple assault.
The Natchez Democrat reported that officers with the Natchez Police Department were dispatched to the scene of a domestic assault on Friday evening. Upon discovering that fellow officer Brandon O’Neal was involved, responding officers secured the scene and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation.
Natchez Police Chief Lee Best told the newspaper that deputies determined O’Neal, 34, was the aggressor in the incident, and he was taken into custody. He was booked into the Adams County Jail at 10:12 p.m.
O’Neal joined the Natchez Police Department in 2021 and has since been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
