Weather officials have issued heat stress warnings for Tuesday that cover all of Mississippi.
Temperatures are expected to soar well into the upper 90s, while heat indices, or “feels like” temps, are projected to reach 115 degrees Fahrenheit.
Central, east, and south Mississippi are all under elevated heat stress warnings. Extreme heat warnings, the NWS’ most urgent heat warning, have been issued for most of west and central Mississippi. Both warnings run through 8 p.m. Tuesday night.

Under both risk warnings, officials say heat stroke is likely with prolonged outdoor activity.
Mississippi Emergency Management officials are urging residents to be aware of the signs of heat illness, never leave people or pets in vehicles, and stay hydrated.
