An arrest has been made following a drug bust in the Mississippi Pine Belt.
On Monday, agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics executed a search warrant at a residence in Hattiesburg. At the scene, authorities arrested Rodney Jermaine Cooper, 43, for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated trafficking of cocaine while in possession of a firearm, and trafficking marijuana while in possession of a firearm.
During the execution of the search warrant, agents seized approximately 686 grams of powder cocaine, 9,890 grams of marijuana, two firearms, nearly $10,000, and a 2016 Cadillac sedan. The weights and amounts of the controlled substances are approximate and will be sent to the Mississippi Crime Laboratory for analysis.
“This is another great example of the hard work our agents and law enforcement officers do every day to get criminals and illegal drugs off our streets and out of our communities. Great work,” Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell said.
State law enforcement was assisted in this investigation by the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office.
