As the baby formula shortage continues nationwide, the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) is now offering more options for WIC mothers.

In order to ensure that its participants continue to receive all benefits, the Mississippi WIC program has:

  • Added additional infant formula products and package sizes to its approved product list. Those products will be available until August 31.
  • Approved alternate formula at a quicker rate than before for those who are unable to find their prescribed medical formula in stores.
  • Made it where participants can now return recalled products directly to the location of purchase for cash back, store credit, or a similar product.

WIC, which stands for Women, Infants, and Children, is a special supplemental food program for pregnant, breastfeeding, and post-partum women, infants, and children under the age of five.

The out-of-stock rate is at 70% nationwide, according to Datasembly.
