New show, ‘All Bout Country,’ coming to SuperTalk Meridian

SuperTalk Mississippi Meridian is pleased to announce a new local show called “All ‘Bout Country.”

The show, which will air on 103.3 FM (WZKR) every Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. beginning this week, will be hosted by local music legend Ken Rainey. “All ‘Bout Country” highlights Rainey’s adventures and encounters throughout his extensive career as a longtime radio personality and promoter.

“‘All ‘Bout Country’ is an autobiographical testimony of my adventures in broadcasting, radio, and country music,” Rainey said. “It’s been the best 56-year — and still counting — career one could have ever dreamed of.”

Rainey and WZKR have a long history of working together with Rainey building the station from the ground up. He wanted to have a station with his initials in the call letters – bringing WZKR to life.

Even though WZKR was purchased by SuperTalk Mississippi Media in August 2011, Rainey has remained a regular guest in the SuperTalk Meridian studio and will now be moving into the role of host.

In August 2022, the SuperTalk Meridian team and Rainey had a conversation about the Temple Theater and the need to create a restoration project for his beloved venue. With the collaborative efforts of Rainey, SuperTalk Meridian, and the Temple Theater, a new event/concert brand called “LIVE from the Temple!” was created and the Temple Restoration Initiative was born.

“The friendships that have been created through radio and the common goal of helping Meridian thrive have made Rainey and the Temple Theater a big part of SuperTalk Mississippi Meridian,” SuperTalk Meridian General Manager Shelley Hotchkiss- Whitehead said.

Tune in to “All ‘Bout Country” with Ken Rainey on SuperTalk Meridian 103.3 FM (WZKR) or the SuperTalk Mississippi app, which can be found on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. If interested in being part of the show, contact Hotchkiss-Whitehead at (601)693-1103.
